Something I've been thinking about

I just came from a little poetry gathering with my poetry class. It was at my professor's house in Springville, and it was so lovely. Nice people, beautiful paintings on the wall, good poems shared, classy food. Mostly what I came away with, and I'm not sure exactly what prompted this, but something I've been thinking about for a long time has definitely been at the front of my mind and I feel stronger about it than I have ever before. I really want to write and illustrate children's books! I feel like I can do it and I feel like it might be a way that I can make a difference in the ways that I want to. The books that I grew up with shaped me and I want to make things that will help other children grow up in a good way. I want to remind them that life is magical. I want to teach them that they don't have to be cynical or rely on satire to understand the world in which we live. I don't know what to do first, or how to go about the first steps, but I'm really excited!
